Hike

A hike in the woods reveals a rustic restroom!
Should they use it?!

The dock

Fancy mirror

And fancy stalls!

Bonita Bills

The Men's Room door is always open!
Is that why the ladies stalls have heavy duty locks!

Etymology

Manure

An interesting fact about Manure:
In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything for export had to be transported by ship.
It was also before the invention of commercial fertilizers, so large shipments
of manure were quite common.
It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than

when wet, but once water (at sea) hit it, not only did it become

heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a

by-product is methane gas.  Since the stuff was stored below  decks in

bundles - you can see what could (and did) happen.

Methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came

below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM!

Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was determined

just what was happening.

After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the

instruction  ' Stow high in transit ' on them, which meant for the

sailors to stow it high enough off the lower decks so that any water

that came into the hold would not touch this "volatile" cargo  and

start the production of methane.

Thus evolved the term ' S.H.I.T ' : (Stow. High. In. Transit)

which has come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day!

Really

This super secure door on the restroom in an elderly facility seems very wrong. How would they get to someone needing help? The door and lock could be used as a front door. Does each stall need this much security?!

Sad thing

Hope & Anchor

This location was the Mayflower Restaurant for many years. It is now an English themed restaurant. The restrooms were clean and well stocked even after our group of 23 ladies used the Byrds room!!

Navy Pier in Chicago

When we were in this restroom, around 5 PM, it was being cleaned and was spotless. We returned around midnight and it was again being cleaned. It was great to find such clean restrooms in such a public place.

Odyssey

The ladies room on this yacht is spacious and clean.

Radford, VA

When entering a restroom in this shape and with these signs a person might just wonder if this is the best place to be at that moment but when nature calls!

You decide on the hook!

Rockford, IL September 13, 2016

This picture came from Natalie at Hobby Lobby in Rockford, IL. Interesting place to locate the Maintenance Room. Hope the Maintenance person is female. She sent a video but I have not figured out how to download it yet!

I have been remiss in keeping this bathroom blog up to date. I have great friends that have given me crazy bathroom finds and I have not posted them. Today I will post a few and I will update and keep this site up to date because public restrooms are full of amazing sights!!!! Please continue to send me what you see!!!!

Today Sandy sent me this from a restroom at Oceola Cheese in Oceola, Missouri. When was the last time you saw and used a towel dispenser that dispenses a real towel!!! I remember these and they were sanitary and nice.

The Hershey building in Hershey, PA had a large clean restroom with a row of individual hand dryers. These dryers were nice but located around the corner from the sinks making them inconvenient  and a bit dangerous because hands dripped water on the floor on the way to the dryers and the floor became slippery. A hook near the dryers would have made drying both hands at the same time easier and reduced lines.

The restroom at Kaptain Jacks in W. Springfield, MA was clean and kept with the theme of the restaurant with a pirate guarding each stall. Peg liked those pirates!

We took a ride in MA with Mark and Bettye and stopped outside of the small town of Gramby. We decided to check a local store for fresh eggs,  some ice cream, and a restroom break. I am not so sure stationing a scale just outside the female bathroom door is such a pleasing idea! The eggs were only 99 cents for two dozen but they were the size of marbles, I’ve never seen such small eggs.

The restroom in the Eastern States Expo building we used for the Monaco rally had an old crank towel dispenser. Not sure how sanitary the crank was but it was the only choice and it was also the message board!

This restroom on the Expo grounds knew I was coming and wanted clean hands!

The brand of this dispenser is DEB!

We were visiting Niagra Falls when we saw this house. I sure did not want to try to use the restroom!

Another restroom by the falls dispensed individual hand wipes. This was a great idea but they were very small and thin so it took quite a few to get the hands dry.

Covering seat with toilet paper is a bad idea!

There's 150 percent more bacteria in the toilet paper dispenser than on the toilet seat because people with poop on their hands are more likely to touch the toilet paper area than the seat.

These bacteria are associated with urinary tract infections, pneumonia and womb infections. However, there is one way to prevent contracting any of the illnesses.

A wise idea is to carry your own toilet paper because that's where the most bacteria is and the toilet paper touches sensitive areas. The skin on the legs and butt that touches the seat is adept at fighting bacteria.

Some testing by the Arizona College of Public Health found that toilet seats tend to have 1,000 bacteria or less living on them. While that seems like a lot, you're still unlikely to catch any infectious diseases from a seat but watch the paper!

Rockford, Illinois

I saw this pay changing station in the Walmart restroom. It seemed very convenient because it dispensed a cloth to clean the changing table and everything needed for changing the baby! There was even a bag to put all the used items in before disposing of them!
